Week of December 16

     The students did an excellent job last week reading and bringing up the gifts at Mass.  This week we will be talking about Christmas and continuing to read through our Christmas story. 

     In Superkids we are working on long and short vowel sounds.  The students have learned about 'Super e'.  We will be reading another story and poem in our readers this week and talking about beginning, middle, and end, as well as sequencing events. 

     For math this week the students will be working more than their addition and subtraction facts, graphing and interpreting data and ordinal numbers. 

     During science this week students will learn more about solids, liquids, and gases and changes that can occur.  We will also look at mixtures and how we can separating things during our Innovation Lab.

Week of Dec. 9 Newsletter

This week we will be talking more about Advent.  The students made their Advent wreaths last week and we will light the second candle on Monday.  We are also responsible for during Mass this week.

In superkids this week we will be working more with long/short vowels.  Students will be working on writing their character stories that they planned out last week.  We will also be doing some Christmas writing.

For math this week students will be learning about adding 2 to odd numbers, using patterns to solve a problem, and comparing/ordering objects. 

In science we will begin looking at mixtures and changes in states of matter.  Our innovation lab this week will be experimenting with gummy bears and different solutions.

Week of December 2

     I hope everyone had a great and relaxing Thanksgiving.

     We will be begin talking about Advent and making our Advent wreaths this week.  We will also learn more about the Mass and make a Mass book. 

     In Superkids we are working on short and long vowels.  We will be working on identifying the short and long vowel sounds in different words.  We will also be reading another story in our readers and discuss the characters in the story.  Students will also be planning and writing about their own character. 

     For math this week students will be working with estimating and measuring capacity, even and odd numbers, telling time to the hour, and adding 2 to a number. 

     In science this week we will be learning more about solids, liquids, and gases.  We will also do some exploring activities with solids, liquids, and gases in our Innovation Lab this week.
