Last Days of School
The last days of school were busy but involved lots of fun activities. In reading the students finished writing their Supernoodle stories (which turned out great). They also completed the last book in the Superkid's Club.
In math the students finished up their geometry unit by making their own shape creations from foam shape stickers (they were very creative). Students also enjoyed using the pattern blocks and pattern cards.

Busy Learning
In Superkids the students have almost finished learning about all the letters. They are currently working on the last three letters, X, Y, and Z. The kids are very excited to officially become Superkids themselves at the end of this book. They are also working hard on identifying and writing rhyming words, and sentences. We also learned about quotations and wrote a couple quotes of our own. Coming up the students will be writing their own story about what they would do with the Superkids if they were the Supernoodle.
In math the kindergarteners finished working on measurement and now are working on geometry. So far we have learned about plane shapes (rectangles, squares, circles, triangles, and hexagons) and solid figures (cones, cylinders, spheres, and cubes). The students sorted the shapes by how many sides they have and we looked at real objects that are cubes, spheres, cones, and cylinders. Coming up we will be reading different books that talk about shapes and how we can make things using shapes. They will also make their own animal or other object using only shapes.
The second graders have also been busy learning about Mary and the rosary. They got to make their own rosary using pipe cleaners and beads. We also talked about Ascension Thursday and now we will be talking more about the Holy Spirit and gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit.

Week of the Young Child
During the Week of the Young Child we had some guest readers come into our class to read to the students. I would like to thank those who came in to read. The kids enjoyed hearing the stories from different people. Here are some pictures.

Measuring Height
Today in math the kindergarteners talked about height of objects. They were put in buddies and using math links measured each others height. Then they counted how many links tall they were. Everyone got a chance to measure someone else. The kids had a lot of fun and were amazed at how many links tall they were compared to their friends.

Initial Sound Sort
Last week the students worked on sorting picture cards by their initial sounds. We worked with the letters N, M, P, R, and our new letter V. The students each got two cards to sort into the pocket chart. Here is just some clips of our sorting. Enjoy!
