Week of Sept. 16

This week in religion we will be looking at the Holy Family.  We will be talking about how Jesus grew up in a family and comparing and contrasting what things were like doing Jesus' time and our time.

We have completed Welcome Back, Superkids and this week will be starting Adventures of the Superkids.  In the first unit students will learn about words with sh, ch, and tch.  We will be reading new stories in our readers.  Students will also start thinking about things that they have done and will be making lists that they can use for ideas when writing.

Last week in math we went to the Ipad lab and used the geoboard app to draw shapes.  It was great to see the kids enjoying drawing on the geoboard app, even later in the week.  This week we will be looking at dividing things in half, graphing on a pictograph, counting, and writing addition sentences.

This week in our dinosaur inquiry unit students will be comparing the sizes of dinosaurs to other dinosaurs as well as to themselves.  They will work together to measure their own heights and then use our dinosaur books to find the height of different dinosaurs.  We will even compare our feet to dinosaur feet.  We will also talk about carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores.

Upcoming Events:
  • Safety Town - Sept. 26
  • No School - Sept. 27
