Week of November 11

This week we will continue to talk about the Great Commandment.  We will also read the story the Good Samaritan and students will do activities to retell the story.  We will also be talking about things that we are thankful for and will put up our thankful turkey with the feathers listing all the things that we are thankful for.

In Superkids we will be starting unit 5 this week.  Unit 5 students will learn the rules for adding -ing and -ed to words.  We will also talk about antonyms and read the story "Monster Under the Bus" in our readers.

For math this week we will be working on counting by 2's, telling time to the hour, subtracting 0 from a number, problem solving strategies, and capacity.  We will be able to do a lot this week with various manipulatives and hands on activities.  Students will also be able to use an interactive hundred board and clock with our SMARTboard.

We are working on writing the first draft for our dinosaur books, making sure we are using complete sentences, capital letters, correct punctuation, and our best handwriting.  This week we will also begin looking at matter.  In our innovation lab this week we will begin constructing our Native American drums.

We will also begin talking about the First Thanksgiving, the Mayflower, and pilgrims and Indians this week.
