Week of March 11

During religion this week we will be continuing to talk about the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit helped the first church members.  We will also talk about how we are like the first Church members.

In Superkids this week the students will be reading the story, "A Super Day at Happy Land" in their readers.  We will be working on identifying the main idea and supporting details from the story.  Students will also begin working on their own personal narratives.  This week we will begin planning them, by thinking about what the main idea will be and then coming up with supporting details for it.  We will also complete Unit 3 and begin Unit 4.  In Unit 4 we will be working with aw and all pattern words.

During Math this week we will be measuring to the nearest inch, identifying and counting nickels, and ordering events by time.  We will also continue to work on our addition and subtraction facts everyday.

In Science we have been discussing some natural resources.  This week we will look at a couple more natural resources.  In our science lab, students will get to look more closely at rocks and classify them into groups based on color, shape, size, or texture.

We have also gotten into our Communities Inquiry Unit.  Students have been reading through different books on communities and community helpers.  They worked on finding facts from the books and labeling the source for each fact.  This week we will be comparing city and country communities.
