Week of March 18

In religion this week we will begin talking about Holy Week so that we are prepared for it.  We also will be working with the second graders to prepare for stations of the cross on Friday.

During Superkids this week students will continue to edit/revise and then publish their personal narratives about a super day that they had.  We will be learning about the sound that "aw" and "all" make in words.  Students will also read two stories from our reader this week.  We will also look at another one of our Super-Duper magazines this week.  Make sure to ask your child what it was about.

In math this week we will look at subtracting 10 from a number, dozen and half dozen, estimating and measuring using feet, and adding 9.  Students will also continue to practice all of our addition and subtraction facts as well as counting money and telling time.

Science this week will be focused on learning about taking care of the earth.  We talked about the natural resources that the earth has and also about types of pollution last week.  This week we will focus on how can we take care of those natural resources by reusing, recycling, and reducing.

In Social Studies we are continuing to work on our Community inquiry unit.  This week we will talk more specifically about what a community is and look at our community.  We will be using Google Earth to look closer at the community we live in.
