Week of March 4

This week in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday we will be mixing in some Dr. Seuss writing and art activities.

In religion this week we will continue to talk about Lent as well as continue to discuss the Holy Spirit and how the Holy Spirit helps us to grow closer to Jesus.

Monday will be our Unit 2 spelling test for More Adventures of the Superkids.  Spelling homework is also due on Monday.  We will be starting unit 3 where we will focus more on contractions.  We will also be reading stories and looking for the main idea and supporting details.

In Math this week students will be working on finding the missing addend (3 + ___ = 7), drawing congruent shapes/designs, and measurement using nonstandard units as well as measuring to the nearest inch.  Wednesday, March 6 we will be having a math test.

In Science we are finishing up talking about the seasons and why we have the seasons.  This week we will begin talking about the Earth and different natural resources that the Earth has including rocks/minerals, soil, water, and air.  Our science lab this week will deal with exploring rocks using magnifying glasses and classifying them into groups based on size, color, shape, or texture.

In Social Studies we have begun our second inquiry unit, Communities.  This week we will read and explore more with our community books.  Students will also begin to compare and contrast different types of communities beginning with comparing/contrasting country and city.
